ASME Rules

To be able to fabricate to the ASME Codes or make repairs to the N.B.I.C. (National Board Inspection Code), Sigma Manufacturing must successfully complete an audit/review by The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel  Inspectors. We must also have a qualified W.P.S. (Welding Procedure Specification) supported by a P.Q.R. (Procedure Qualification Record). The work must be performed by a qualified welder documented by a W.P.Q. (Welder Performance Qualification).

Sigma Manufacturing's WPS’s are qualified by each process and by material type. GTAW (Gas Tungsten-Arc Welding), GMAW (Gas Metal-Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding), SAW (Submerged-Arc Welding). All processes must be qualified to ASME Section IX (Welding, Brazing and Fusing Qualifications). Sigma Manufacturing has multiple WPS’s.

Canadian Welding Bureau

Sigma Manufacturing is a Certified Division 2 company under CSA Standard W47.1, “Certification of Companies for Fusion Welding of Steel.” Companies that obtain certification to the CSA Welding Standard must maintain a quality program that is audited semi-annually by the Canadian Welding Bureau. The CWB will only grant certification to companies that meet and adhere to the requirements of CSA W47.1. Sigma MFG must continually comply and demonstrate that it has the personnel, welding procedures, and equipment to produce quality welds and weldments.
